What is OMEGA-3:
Essential Fatty Acid & Brain Growth
• There are 3 important types of Omega-3 acids:
Alpha-linolenic acid (ALA)
Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA)
Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA)
• Sources: Plant oils - flaxseed, soybean, and canola oils Walnuts, black beans, kidney beans, Winter squash, Chia seeds Cold-water fatty fish-salmon, mackerel, tuna, herring, and sardines
Small quantities are also present in nuts, soy products, green leafy vegetables, and whole grains, Corn, safflower, sunflower.
DHA and EPA are orthomolecular, conditionally essential nutrients that enhance quality of life and lower the risk of premature death.
EPA / DHA corrects the root cause of ADHD and learning disorders i.e. omega 3 fatty acid deficiency. Intake of EFAs/ DHA during preschool years prevent ADHD and enhance learning capability and academic performance.
DHA increases the level of “feel good” neurotransmitter serotonin and “memory boosting” chemical acetylcholine.
EPA/DHA are also known to reduce physical aggression & impulsivity.
Omega-3, particularly DHA, improves fluidity of photoreceptor membranes, retinal integrity, and visual function.

Multiple Clinical Trials Have Proven Beneficial effects of supplementation of EPA /DHA.
Lack of Omega-3 may cause following issues in children:
ADHD associated Comorbidities:
• Learning disabilities- dyslexia
• Social communication disorder- trouble understanding body language, puns, sarcasm & statements.
• Auditory processing disorder- makes a child appear inattentive or unable to follow directions.
• Emotional regulation issues- anxiety disorders, depressive disorders & obsessive-compulsive disorder.
• Motor and oral (vocal) Tic disorders- Tourette’s syndrome, cause body movements & vocal sounds that kids can’t control.
Aggression:
DHA helps maintain functions of cerebral cortex that is useful for memory, attention, perceptual awareness, thought, language and consciousness EPA limits aggression maintains behavior and mood
